New editor with too many wrong cover arts - banning discussion again?

There is a new editor (burgs) with too many wrong cover art uploads (40 out of 101 at the moment). He does not respond to edit notes and votes.

I think that the edits were not entered with bad intentions but there is possibility that considerable number of wrong cover arts will pass. In such edits voters usually do not vote no when they are almost sure that the edit is wrong.

There was a discussion about limiting non-responding editors: Ban editors that don't respond to edit notes. I think that the suggested requesting of re-confirming the editor's e-mail could help a lot in this situation. Any other suggestions for this situation?

Long overdue in my opinion.
How can we go about getting this relationships added? Most of the bands I add these days I am adding through a Bandcamp page/ adding Bandcamp releases.
Keeping the can be 'downloaded for free' or purchased for download' or 'purchased for mail order' etc options are useful to see right from the page though.

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a music albums database to use with my own android application. The one that looks the best is musicbrainz, but I'm not sure if I can query it in the way I need.

I need to query albums by genres and release date. For instance: Get all [country, rock and blues] albums released on [Jan-10-1981.]

I'd also like to use wildcards for any field in release date, like: All albums released on the 5th day of any month in 1983; All albums released any year on March, etc.

Is that possible? And how?

I need to know that either to keep in researching how to use Musicbrainz or to continue looking for a different database.

I only just found the MusicBrainz wiki so have thus far been using the main site's DB schema image to understand the DB. It's quite small. It would be helpful to link from:

The Internet Archive is interested in making a display that maps music over time, and the location that would seem to be a good one is the city a band is from. Some do not have an obvious one, but many do. MB now has country-- what about city?

Ban editors that don't respond to edit notes

Couple of examples:

http://musicbrainz.org/user/Anythom - must have the worst quota of all editors in the db, totally unresponsive
http://musicbrainz.org/user/jimbo1954 - usually adds 1-track releases that aren't actual releases, totally unresponsive
http://musicbrainz.org/user/cornypooptm - thankfully confines himself to editing a single band; you might want to take a look at his earliest notes

Proposals for a sensible procedure are appreciated. I suggest posting a standardized edit note asking for any kind of response in any fashion. If that doesn't happen within a week or two - temporary ban. If it happens again - ultimate ban.

While we're at it: Why is it that unresponsive, inexperienced or simply bad editors have so few subscribers? Why is it that auto-editors usually have 20-50 subscribers when they have officially been trusted with making correct edits that don't need supervision?

Fittingly, the IMO most important edit filters have not yet been implemented:

ReplayGain properties

I looked through the schema description but I did not find any properties for storing ReplayGain attributes. Did I miss something?

Does it not make sense for one person to process a recording to compute its ReplayGain attributes and then store the attributes on MusicBrainz so that anyone can retrieve them?

Expand/Collapse Selected

In MusicBrainz Picard when you right click the album(s) you have the option the Expand All, & the option to Collapse all. You don't have the option the Expand Selected, and you don't have the the option to Collapse All.

samples IMDb entry - name

It would be really nice if a "samples IMDb entry" gave the name of the entry rather than just the text of the link, because who wants to follow the link just to find out what it was that was sampled. I wouldn't mind whether this was dragged in at load from IMDb or copied or even user entered when the link was created, I can't imagine the names at IMDb change often. Any way it would be much nicer :-)

How to request a language

I recently ran across a work with lyrics in a language not currently in the list (Ryukyuan).
As much as I loathe having to do this (I have a proposal on the drawing board to restructure the language system entirely) I can't remember the proper procedure. Do I need to make a ticket or is there a special procedure like there is for instruments?

recording disambiguation comments

It would be useful if new disambiguation comments added to something existing showed up immediately. Is there a reason they wait 7 days at the moment?

Also, are there any scripts etc. for mass adding disambiguation comments to recordings? It seems to me the disambiguation comment would often be the same across all recordings in a release.

New media type "CD+G"

There is a CD format CD+Graphics that was used by Warner New Media (search for that label) around 1990 and is now used for Karaoke discs mostly.

I catalog the format at www.cdplusg.com so you can go there to read all about it.

Seems like there should be a media type under CD for CD+G, similar to how HDCD is listed. It seems like a useful and valid distinction.
