Does MusicBrainz have a method of tagging special releases? The following may suggest types of 'special releases':

Deluxe Edition
Japan Edition
Bonus-Track Edition

No, it doesn't. The Japan edition is not a "special" release if you live in Japan :) - so such information is difficult to standardise.

See Picard Tags for what Picard can tag in a structured way. In the database this information will often, but not always, be part of the release comment (can get this with %_releasecomment% in file naming or tagger script). There are no guidelines for the release comment, so the data will probably not be 'clean'.
