Topic: Bonus Tracks in diferent media than the album

Hello,

if you buy Serj Tankian's new solo album "Harakiri" via his online store, and you buy the Limited Bundle, you're buying a physic copy of the album plus two bonus songs for download. I don't have any idea how to ass them, cause I don't see them as a total new release, plus the album itself doesn't change. Any ideas in how to handle this?

Thanks.

Re: Bonus Tracks in diferent media than the album

If the bonus songs don't have any defined order (so you can't model them as a bonus "disc" to a regular release); usually the recordings are just added on their own and users have to tag against the individual recordings; so without any release detail. (Called "non-album tracks" in older MusicBrainz lingo)

Usually the decision of whether to add a new "Limited Bundle" release would depend on whether the limited bundle has its own identifiers/cat#, download/buy page etc, as well as defined/consistent order for the bonus songs.

Re: Bonus Tracks in diferent media than the album

I haven't received the album yet, so I can't tell if it's the same barcode. Also, i don't have a normal album's barcode to compare. But i guess it is the same.

Thanks for your answer.

Re: Bonus Tracks in diferent media than the album

If those bonus tracks are specific to this or that catalogue number or EAN, I would probably add a Digital medium to this release with the digital downloads in the order they come on the page.

They can only be obtained buying the Limited Bundle. Otherwise,  I don't know if they can be obtained by iTunes or if in the future the situation will change.

Re: Bonus Tracks in diferent media than the album

I've dealt with bundled releases like this before and pretty much know what you mean. What you want to do is (if the non-limited release is already in MB) add a duplicate release (in the same release group), add an extra disc and label the format as Digital Media. You can then add the track information from there.

As I said; but this only works of the bonus tracks have a defined and consistent ordering.

Re: Bonus Tracks in diferent media than the album

Well, they *could* be added in alphabetical order, and then their display-track-numbers removed to indicate it's unordered.
