Topic: Alias or New Artist?

Hi!

My problem is about a band called Saint Just. In the 70's they recorded a couple of albums and then disappeared. However two years ago they reappeared as "Saint Just Again" to record a new album.

So, my question is: should I add this album under "Saint Just" and credit it as "Saint Just Again", or should I create a new artist?

Are the members mostly the same?
If yes, I would AC the new releases Saint Just as Saint Just Again: «Saint Just Again» .
Then, when there are more Saint Just Again releases, rename the artist to Saint Just Again while keeping the old release as AC: Saint Just Again as Saint Just (opposite situation).

If there is a big member change, I would create new artist besides, like I did for SHERBET→SHERBETS.

In the albums as "Saint Just" the members were very different. In the first album the line up was

- Jenny Sorrenti / vocals
- Antonio Verde / classical guitar, bass
- Robert Fix / saxophone
- Mario D'Amora / piano, organ
- Tony Esposito / drums
- Gianni Guarracino / electric guitar

and in the second
- Jenny Sorrenti / vocals, 12-string guitar, percussion
- Antonio Verde / bass
- Tito Rinesi / vocals, guitars, percussion, harmonica, autoharp
- Andrea Faccenda / guitars, piano, organ, harmonica
- Fulvio Maras / drums, percussion.

In the new album only the singer remains; the line up was:

-Jenny Sorrenti  / vocals, keyboards
-Marcello Vento / drums, steel drum, gong
-Elio Cassarà / electric guitar
-Ernesto Vitolo / Hammond organ, piano, synthesizer
-Vittorio Pepe / bass

With this dramatic change in line ups I'm not sure this is a good criterion to decide.

Yes, there are no TWO distinct Saint Just (SJ) and Saint Just Again (SJA) era so they should probably be merged.
Artist name would remain SJ for the moment (more releases) and use SJA AC for the latest release.
And credit the artists on each release if you have some spare time. ;)
