Topic: Mentors out there

Hi all,

I just started to dig into the whole stuff of tagging and stumbled over musicbrainz.
I read much and now I'm trying to use the theory in practice.

While tagging the first cd rips I found out that I do have a new release of a already known artist/album.

What is the best way to contribute?
Can I simply copy the basic informations? (artist-id, etc.)

As I want to contribute in high quality, is there a mentor out there willing to help me making the first correct steps in adding to the musicbrainz db?

First, you can read the editors doc : http://musicbrainz.org/doc/How_Editing_Works
Then, you can try adding your release. Adding a release for an existing album is actually easier than adding a brand new album because you can use existing releases as a base, and just add additional songs.
I havn't added many releases myself but it's not overly complicated. Just don't do it in a hurry.
Be careful about bands/artists with same name, there are quite a number of them out there.
