Topic: Adding a MusicBrainz ID

Purchased a used CD.

My ripping software complains it is not in MusicBrainz

The release actually is, but the release has no ID's associated with it.

http://musicbrainz.org/release/ef4a9a9f … 1f/discids

Everything about the release looks just dandy - I just need to be able to add

Checking device /dev/sr0
CDDB disc id b70d4f0e
MusicBrainz disc id hlLdaJjXE9yzHUVgVZNmI3g2ANk-
Submit this disc to MusicBrainz at:
http://mm.musicbrainz.org/bare/cdlookup … NmI3g2ANk-

I go to that link and it is rather confusing, I search for Gompie and it brings me to the correct release but I do not see how to associate the disk to the release. There's a way to create a new release, but the release is already there with correct information, so that's not what I want.

Is there a button for "add MusicBrainz ID" that I just am not not seeing?

Re: Adding a MusicBrainz ID

You want to press the small circle by "CD 1", and then press "Attach CD TOC" :)

Re: Adding a MusicBrainz ID

I'm sorry to look like such a complete idiot but I can't find what small circle you are talking about.
Which page is it on?

I don't see it on the "Disc IDs" tab or the main "Release" tab.

Re: Adding a MusicBrainz ID

Is Picard the way to add a disc ID you were mentioning?
Looking through the docs, it shows it with picard.

Mentions Sound Juicer which I think is in CentOS repository - at least I know it is GStreamer bases, never personally cared for it.
Is there not a web way to do it? That may be my problem.

Re: Adding a MusicBrainz ID

OK - I found it. Got it squared away.

Re: Adding a MusicBrainz ID

I can't find 'attach toc' either, so that's great you got it squared away...now can you please share where you found this, what your solution was?

I've been poking around on both the web and picard for over an hour and can't figure out how to do this.

It would make a ton of sense to import the TOC first so I have the correct number of tracks and time, then fill in the rest, instead of doing it all manually.

also, on the web, clicking on the 'disc id' tab simply says 'no disc id's', but no links there to upload one??

Re: Adding a MusicBrainz ID

You can't add a discID from the discID tab because it needs to use an application to read the CD before it can be submitted. Have you checked http://musicbrainz.org/doc/How%20to%20Add%20Disc%20IDs ? It's not completely up to date but should work...

Edit: And if the release wasn't already in MusicBrainz you could add it using the TOC, as you said - but since you could go to its discID tab, I can only assume this specific one *is* there :)

Re: Adding a MusicBrainz ID

However Reosarevok I think the criticism is still valid. It did my head in when I started using it.

I have a physical CD look it up, it is not in MB, so I add it but it doesn't fill the tracks and the times automatically. It obviously has the times from the Disc-ID as that how I got there in the first place.

Also on the website under the DiscID tab. A simple line of text saying to add disc-ID do so via Picard, etc or link to a wiki or something, would help too.

It is not very clear what to do to add a DiscID. There is no indication at all from the DiscID tab.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea :) I'll add a ticket for it

Re: Adding a MusicBrainz ID

Cool. Glad to be of help. :)
