Topic: Adding Release date only to a bunch of files

Hi,

Is there a way to lookup several files, and only write the release date (if available) to the ID3 tag?
I downloaded Picard, but I couldn't see an easy way do it. The reason I ask is because all my files are tagged correctly, but I want to add the year to them so I can split my pop music folder (1,000+ tracks) up into decades without checking each file manually.

Luks, will the taggerscript in the cool new PicardQT you're working on have the power to apply MB info for only specific user selected tags or is it going to be the same Artist/Album/Track info of the current Picard?

Just from glancing at what little info I can figure out it looks like it has a lot potential to do some tricks like that.

Lvl. 7 MusicBrainz Automod with +10 to Punk Sword, +7 to Japanese axe, and -3 to classical cloak
Lvl. 12 Last.fm Moderator with +15 Sarcasm Bow, "Seeing of Bullshit" spell, and flame+spam invulnerable armor

Right now it is possible only by unsetting all tags you are not interested in. And given that it uses also ARs to generate tags, it can be quite a long list. Maybe I'll add a function to unset all tags except the specified ones. Something like:

$unset2(date)

and then saving files will modify only the date tag. Or:

$unset2(musicbrainz_trackid,musicbrainz_albumid,musicbrainz_artistid)

to save only MB IDs (which is what would a lot of Last.fm users, who don't like MB style, really welcome :)).

That will be SOOOO cool.
My gripe is when I change the capitalization to something different from MB on my local file then two months later retag the library with MB to update and add an MBID or release dates.  It never fails I accidentally retag that one album that goes back to all uppercase.

Screw artist intent! When the song shows up in my player I want it capitalized correctly!
