Looks like The Kinks' Lola and some song named Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep got merged somehow?
I asked on IRC and nikki managed to find this:
http://musicbrainz.org/edit/15901706
http://classic.musicbrainz.org/release/ … 235c2.html
http://classic.musicbrainz.org/release/ … c3795.html
(see track 7)
It's a pretty bad situation, given the long edit histories, and it's unfortunate that we can't split them easily or fix the MBID's. :( I'm going to try and fix as many of the releases as possible.
VA merges apparently don't show up in the associated recording artists' subscriptions, so they're hard to spot.
Edit: The new "Lola" recording is http://musicbrainz.org/recording/559e77 … a29f97a23f
I found another merge of 2 different songs here: http://musicbrainz.org/recording/7900ff … 252932c30e
(Heart of Glass - Blondie and Lost in France - Bonnie Tyler)...
Why are there no informations about the merge in editing history??
Some recordings were incorrectly merged by the server as a result of the migration to NGS, before which these entities did not exist.
This is a very bad situation, but unfortunately we just have to fix them manually now :( Other editors have noted quite a few other cases where such merges happened - possibly due to PUIDs being crosslinked between different recordings.
