Topic: What happened to Spotify cooperation?
Hi,
some days ago spotify.com launches their service in Germany. So I thinking about a library management using Musicbrainz Data and links to spotify for playing. Digging around for related work I found some old relics of an old cooperation years ago. spotify seams to use musicbrainz metadata[1], they are listed as musicbrainz customer[2], spotify using musicbrainz links in API calls(YEAH!)[3] and (Woohoo!) it seams musicbrainz using relationships to spotify some years ago [4].
But what happened? Ok - spotify perhaps switched there company policy and don't use it in api calls etc. But musicbrainz? Why there are no spotify relationship in musicbrainz albums anymore? Wouldn't it be great to click play at a track listed in musicbrainz and it plays (over spotify or whatever else music service)?
It feels like explore a new world of music on demand (Germany has terrible laws "protecting" copyright so no music playing service surviving long - RIP youtube, grooveshark and hopefully not spotify) but I came years to late and digging around in old history (but found nothing useful).
So perhaps someone has some informations and (crossing fingers) musicbrainz integrate spotify (etc) soon again.
