Topic: Recommend 1st album song appears on instead of last

I 1st want to say this program has been amazing so far in handling all of my ripped CD collection.  I am now tackling the horde of one-off's and singles I've accumulated.  Besides navigating my way through the website database which has been very time consuming for every single track, is there a way for Picard to associate the album of a song with the 1st time or oldest dated album instead of the most recent??

The problem I am running into is that the songs are appearing on complication CD's, or other CD format's.  What I would like is for the recommended album based on the PUID, to be the 1st time the song appeared on the artist's original album release.  Is there a way to do this?  Also, it would be really neat if I could right click on a song, and it would list all of the albums that song has appeared on and choose it that way.

Thanks in advance for any help!

That's currently not possible. You can tell Picard to prefer studio albums to compilations though. Options -> Metadata -> Preferred releases.

Re: Recommend 1st album song appears on instead of last

recommended album based on the PUID

PUID/AmpliFIND is deprecated, often doesn't work due to lack of support from disGraceNote/Sony (who now own it), and support will soon be removed from Picard. You should try using AcoustID if you can - I believe it tends to behave better than PUID when dealing with individual tracks.

You can't right click on a song and choose an album from a list; but you can right click "lookup in browser" which does a much more powerful website search. This amounts to the same thing; but you see the list of possible matches in your browser, and select one using the "tagger" button.
