Topic: Picard wants to put Ryuichi Sakamato as interpret

Just going through some stuff I noticed picard wanted to rename the interpret for "Ryuichi Sakamoto" to "Ryuichi Sakamato".

Curious whether his name got changed in the musicbrainz I checked all ressources I could think of, but just found that the latin representation of his name appearantly was unchanged.

I'm at a loss, what's going on here? I do have Options> Metadata> if possible, translate artist name to english enabled, I tried tinkering with that and the option for standardized artist names, but couldn't find what's causing it. Naturally, untoggling the option to translate the artist will leave it in its kanji form, I'd rather keep using the english variants of the artist names, though.

That's the alias: http://musicbrainz.org/artist/a7f7df4a- … e8/aliases - it's likely wrong and in that case you should fix it :)

Re: Picard wants to put Ryuichi Sakamato as interpret

i am no expert and unfortunately can't help with this, but this is probably why picard is showing "Sakamato".

edit: apparently reosarevok was faster:)

It’s a bug in Picard: http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/PICARD-157

Editing the primary alias for the english locale does not appear to be a good route to take for this.
In this specific case, changing the primary alias to the more commonly used spelling would work.
In general, this method should probably not be used for all artist names, as it attempts to bend the database to a software bug.

Regarding changing the primary: how is this done, edit the primary with the primary flag unset, after that edit is accepted edit the other alias and set the primary bit?
