Topic: Resurrecting an old proposal

Can it be done? I'm specifically thinking of this. According to this ticket, it's abandoned and nothing can be done about it. Should I make a new proposal? The changes outlined are desperately needed.

Re: Resurrecting an old proposal

In general, yes, it can be done, I've done it a couple times and seen others do them. Normally you'd need to prune the excessive content first, which that one has in spades (or just add the few ones which are actually useful and non-controversial, like we did with "spoken" a year ago). For the classical ones for example, I edit classic quite often and haven't yet seen a case where I would need... well, any of the classical section except maybe the choir types.

Re: Resurrecting an old proposal

I'll probably need some help determining what's excessive and what's not (we can take it to the talk page on the wiki). The reason I decided to take this is all on is because I desperately need some of the more pop-ish vocal types (e.g. rap and scream).

Re: Resurrecting an old proposal

Rap was actually debated on its own, and pretty much rejected because it was hard to limit (the line between singers, rappers who sing and rappers who "rap melodiously" is quite blurry and subjective, and the option of using it only for the times where it was credited as "rap" implied no actual rap album could be marked as "rap" which felt silly.

EDIT: heh, seems I remembered it more or less correctly. Anyway, http://musicbrainz.1054305.n4.nabble.co … 59016.html
