Topic: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

Hi,

i just reinstalled Picard and wanted to add the Cover Art Downloader again. Unfortunately the download link isn't working (http://users.musicbrainz.org/~luks/pica … overart.py).

Could someone reup the .py please?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

Hi, the latest version is at https://raw.github.com/musicbrainz/pica … overart.py

Sorry that the previous link broke, it wasn't intentional.

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

Thanks for the new link! However the plugin doesn't seem to be working for me. I installed it via the "Install plugin" option and overwrote the existing one. I then tested it on a album I had tagged with an older version a few weeks ago (which included a cover art) and no cover was added this time.

Is it normal that the plugin doesn't show under the list of plugins anymore? And what could be the reason that it is not working for me?

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

What version of Picard are you using? You may also want to check Help -> View Log and look for any error messages (if the plugin crashed for some reason).

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

I'm using version 1.1. However, after deleting the files (.py, .pyo) from the plugin directory and then reinstalling your file, it is now working again! Thanks for your help

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

Hello,
Could you update the Picard Plugins web page (http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard/Plugins) with the right url ?

thx

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

Good morning;

Newbie here. Having trouble loading the latest coverart.py file from the links provided:

https://raw.github.com/musicbrainz/pica … overart.py

Also, when I try to download the link from the plugins page of the documentation, I get the same result. Rather than receiving a downloaded file, a new webpage opens with the code. I don't know how to convert that to a .py file.

Could someone please check the downloading links on the site and provide the correct link?

Thanks . . . Daniel

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

Depending on your web browser, you can right-click the link and select "Save Link As..." to download it as a .py file.

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

Hi,

Another newbie here. Have installed Picard 1.1 on my Mac and tried to install the plug in from https://raw.github.com/musicbrainz/pica … overart.py. When I go through preferences, Plugins, Install plugin, open coverart.py and .... nothing happens or appears in the list. Have deleted the py file and reinstalled, overwritten, restated in that order and more and still have nothing. Below is from the log file on last launch of Picard.

E: <sip.voidptr object at 0x9f290e0> 16:51:25 Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "picard/plugin.pyo", line 160, in load_plugin
  File "/Users/stanimirgaberov/.config/MusicBrainz/Picard/plugins/coverart.py", line 1

Help please, thank you
Stan

PS - if its technical like or beyond just point and click, please in basic simple English for the uninitiated.

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

@stan1.618,

perhaps a problem with wrong line feed format? Could help to convert coverart.py to Unix-Format LF. On Linux there should be a tool dos2unix available to do this.

Cheers, Tubebend

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

Hi,

Sorry, you must have missed the last line. Point and click explanations only, I do restaurants/F&B and have close to no tech skills or understanding. Can we try again: I am on a mac air (an old one at that) OSX 10.7.5. Where do I look and what do I click to do whatever it is you said might help.

Cheers,
Stan

Re: Cover Art Downloader - Plugin not available?

Hold it! Its Fixed.
I guess since its Mid Autumn Festival here in China, I am supposed to be working instead of playing with my music, and I'm having a beer to boot, I received a moment of inspiration. After trying saving through the link, save as, etc and then changing the extension, and all to no avail... my very last try before I threw my computer out the window worked.

Note to Mac users on Safari having an issue and those who are computer illiterate like me, this is what worked:

open https://raw.github.com/musicbrainz/pica … overart.py in a new tab
click and choose save page as
at the top of the pop up, export as: coverart.py.txt - delete the .txt at the end
at the bottom of the pop up, format: make sure you choose page source
click save
on the following pop up click don't append (the .txt) extension

Then use the saved file for installing the plugin as usual and you are in business. Every other save and/or extension file change simply did not work.

If you dont notice I am very much proud of my accomplishment at the moment. (please the more tech savvy don't spoil it)

Cheers,
Stan
