Topic: Tagging single tracks

Hello!

My experiments with both "scan" and "look-up" didn't solve my problem. I thought that "scan" would only use the audio data leaving the given predefined tags beside. Unfortunately the scan on a separate, single title identifies a compilation instead an album or EP/Single with a chance of about 85%. The sliders in "preferred releases" does nor really effect this behaviour.

I also tried to delete any predefined tags except artist and title to enforce "look-up" and "scan" to reply more album tags. But then a match by "look-up" is not possible anymore and "scan" gives back the same compilation as above.

By "Look-up in Browser" I can assign my track to the preferred release type - but it would be a charme if I could control this automatically anyhow.

So my question: If you want to (re-)tag only one single file, how to enforce Picard to match this track to an album, EP or Single release then? Are there additional options to get this working?

Re: Tagging single tracks

I have never found an easy way to do this. Lookup in Browser is the easiest way.

For some tracks the same recordings is on many, many releases. It would be nice for picard to give/indicate more choice.

Maybe others can help.
