Topic: Please allow the edition of *.m4v files

Hi, the most part of my files are from iTunes, a lot of ppl also use that format too, allowing the edition of m4v files will be great. I'm not talking about adding these videos as part of the iTunes releases in your database, I just want to edit them.

Regards and plz continue doing the same great job with Picard

Re: Please allow the edition of *.m4v files

Why would an audio metadata tagger edit video files? If so then avi, mpeg, webm, etc will also need that.

Re: Please allow the edition of *.m4v files

IIRC Picard actually can already save tags to at least one or two formats of video, so this is less strange than it might sound like. Not sure *which* formats though.

Re: Please allow the edition of *.m4v files

I would like to see this as well.  There are a number of cases where either a digital release comes with a video or a physical release comes with a DVD of videos.  It is very helpful to have Picard tag these to get all the proper metadata in there.  What I typically do now is change the extension to M4A, tag and change back to M4V.

It is not that strange, depending on the file format video files also support tags and are quite similar to audio files. As jdc0730 said m4v is in theory already supported since and you can tag those files by renaming them to m4a.

There are already some feature requests regarding video support, but I don't think anybody actually worked on this so far:
