Topic: Cover Art - Documentation about the desired content?

I'm looking for some instructions, like

a) Which cover art is acceptable, which one is not? (Quality, Kind of picture)
b) Which sources are acceptable, which are not?
c) Do we have a minimal size for the cover (and other) art?

Re: Cover Art - Documentation about the desired content?

There are no clear instructions, but I'd say:

a) As good quality as possible, would be especially interesting that stuff that is supposed to be read can be read. I doubt there's anyone who opposes adding a (still reasonable) image if some small print can't be read though, unless there's a better image easily available.

b) Anything that isn't watermarked

c) 250x250 sounds like a good minimum, since that's the smallest thumbnail the CAA produces (and what we use on the site for display). Of course, more is better :)

Re: Cover Art - Documentation about the desired content?

I agree with resarevok

a) The best quality you have or can get. (as an aside we are still waiting on png and other types to be accepted by the CAA)

b) any without watermarks, if say you find a really nice non-watermarked image on a site that isn't allowed, save the image and then upload it to the CAA (cover art archive)

c)Minimal I would say the normal size for a mobile/cell phone/portable media player

Re: Cover Art - Documentation about the desired content?

Thank you both for the fast response!
What exactly do you mean with "no watermark"?
How can I be sure that there is nothing like that (even not visible) in the picture?
Or do you mean nothing like an oversized "(c) by my super-duper-mega-blog" across the entire image?

Re: Cover Art - Documentation about the desired content?

Yeah, pretty much that. It isn't always that obvious, but basically, nothing on top of the image that doesn't belong in it (sometimes it's just a small logo or whatever). If it's in a monocoloured section of the image and you can't find anything better, sometimes it's worth it to remove small logos by copying the surrounding colour on top of them though.
