Topic: Transferring my preferences and user data to another installation

I'm setting up a new computer and would like to retain all my scripts and preferences and whatnot so I can continue using Picard the way I like to on a different installation. I know where to find the plugins folder on Windows XP but I'm not sure where my user data is stored.

Is there a portable version of Picard that doesn't require installation? Or a way of setting it up so I can just run it on a USB stick?

I believe there is no portable Picard right now. There's an open ticket requesting this already : http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/PICARD-118

Re: Transferring my preferences and user data to another installation

User options are stored in the Windows registry. See HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MusicBrainz\Picard\setting

You could transfer your options by exporting the key structure on the source machine and afterwards import it on the new system. But perform a backup of the setting reg-entry on the target machine before applying the new settings.

This may not work if there are different versions of Windows in use on both machines. Please note: Editing the registry may cause a damaged, non starting Windows system.
